In season five of grey's anatomy Meredith and Derek continue to move forward in their relationship, meanwhile Mark and Lexie decide to take it to the next level by asking her to move in with him. Izzie gets news of having a brain tumor. She also spends time with her fellow cancer patient questioning a risky surgery. 

A major event happened in the end of season eight of grey's anatomy, six doctors, Meredith, Derek, Cristina, Lexie, Mark, and Arizona from Grey Sloan Memorial hospital who were victoms of a plane crash in the middle of nowhere. All of the doctors fight to stay alive, but sadly one of the female doctors didn't make it, leaving the other five doctors heart broken. Lastly between seasons seven and eight Derek and Meredith adopt a little girl named Zola. 

In season eight of grey's anatomy, Meredith's best friend, and colleague, Cristina Yang,  ends up leaving and moving to a different hospital.  Meanwhile, the relationship between Jackson and April takes a turn to next level with expecting their first baby, and Callie and Arizona decide to try for another child to add to the family

I\n season eleven of the series a major event of Derek Shepherds death happens.  His death happens from a car crash after he reached for his cell phone while stopped in the middle of the road. Derek dying left his wife, Meredith without her husband, soulmate and father of her children, also leaving everyone that knew him stunned. 

In season thirteen, a dangerous patient escapes a hospital room, putting many lives including doctors at risk, with a fire in the hospital. In addition Alex and Jo faces a difficult decision in their relationship together.
