Pledge, Attendance, Calendar, and morning work.
This is our Language Arts block, where we will be reading a variety of genres, as we discuss the story elements of literature. We also will be learning to write a Narrative, Opinion and Informational piece of writing. Students will also be instructed on the use of Grammar in oral and language development. Thinking Maps will be utilized to help the students organize their writing thoughts.
Students can bring a snack from home or receive Second Chance Breakfast in the cafeteria. (Free of charge) If students bring a snack from home, please make sure they know it is their snack and not their lunch, they must eat it on the playground in a picnic bench designated area. Please no peanuts, big bags of chips, no soda, no candy and any sharing of food.
This is our math block, we will be using Engage New York or Eureka as our math program this year. Here is a link to the online platform Zearn.
Students will be in small groups according to their reading skills as they work with the teacher and or aide to learn strategies to help them become Kindergarten readers.
Students can bring a lunch from home or they can eat a school lunch, free of charge. A variety of foods including a salad bar is available. You can check the school daily menu at the Mulberry Website.
Social and emotional learning or SEL is an integral part of our curriculum and important for positive human development. SEL is the process through which students acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. During this time students will learn coping skills and how to self regulate their feelings. Lots of books will be read and discussed to enhance the curriculum.
Students will be learning a variety of science concepts such as Living Things, Changing World, Protecting the Earth, Sun and Earth and Making Things Move. We will be using the Wonders McGraw Hill Inspire Science program. It is a very hands on enagaging sciene curriculum.

Students will be dismissed in the Mulberry parking lot pick up area at their designated gate. Please DO NOT leave your car, as the Mulberry staff will escort your child to your car. Please be patient and please help us following the procedures pick up area it makes everything go smoothly.
