Thursday October 12th, 2023 will mark our third annual Social Justice Day! Upper Division students will participate in grade level workshops centered on social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our day will be organized around the theme:
This site will house all the information regarding the day including details on workshops and information on our guest speakers. The schedule is below!
How does the theme relate to Social Justice Day?
When facing a social issue or injustice, individuals and communities often have to dream and hope for the world and change that they want to see because it is not their reality, yet. César Chávez, Harvey Milk, Gloria Steinem, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and so many others in history have dreamed and there are people and communities still dreaming. These dreams are embers that ignite the flame toward action and fuel us and our communities with hope.
Dare is repeated because the act of dreaming and doing are both acts of resistance that challenge the world as we know it. It requires creativity and boldness to dream and pursue that dream, so we recognize it is not a quick and simple task. Dreaming can also be a personal and collective act, so on Social Justice Day we are channeling the bravery and creativity of dreamers before and around us.
