The IB has an agreement with the German Kulusministerkonferenz that IB diplomas which include a DP mathematics course at SL are recognised as the "allegemeine Hochschulzugangsberechtigung" (general university entrance qualfication), provided SL students also study a module on Vectors.
Vectors is NOT in the IBDP SL syllabus, and as such it is not assessed externally by the IB. However, in order for Europa School UK to maintain this agreement and hence send students to university in Germany, all SL students must study this unit on Vectors.
At Europa School UK, we teach this unit as a discrete section outside of normal class hours. We provide materials and teaching to students in the SL courses for this unit. The materials can be found here.
At the end of each part of the unit, there is a short assessment on the key ideas. Students can take this assessment multiple times if needed, and they are presented with a printable certificate to show their result in the asessment. This is a record of them studying the unit, and they will need to share these with school to confirm participation.
The assessments are:
