The Extended Essay (EE) is a compulsory part of the IB Diploma that all students must complete. Students can choose which subject to do their EE in, and a handful choose Maths each year.
Maths is a good choice for your EE if you are interested in Mathematics outside of school, or might want to study Mathematics at University. It is an excellent option for those who might have taken Further Maths at A-Level, as it allows students to delve deep into an area of Mathematics.
The EE is a research paper, and has student research an area of mathematics, and then do some mathematics using this.
