Food Bank

By Chloe and Mom

Information gathered by interview with my mom.

Is your family in need of food? There are many food pantries across Sheboygan County that the Sheboygan County Food Bank provides food for. The Food Bank stores donated food and then distributes it to pantries. The Food Bank provides boxes of food, hygiene products and baby items to different pantries, as well as some fresh produce, meat and dairy. Boxes can include canned goods (soups, vegetables, fruits, pasta and more) and some fresh items (potatoes, apples, milk , lettuce, cheese and more). The Food Bank also provides food to local schools through a backpack program called "Food for Thought." Kids in need of food can take a backpack of healthy food home with them on the weekend.

Where can you get food? Most people can go to a pantry and get food when needed. Each pantry has different days and hours they provide food. Some pantries have requirements. Click on the link to a monthly calendar.

How can you help?

  • You can donate/drop off non-perishable food and hygiene items at the Food Bank from Monday-Friday from 9:00-3:00.

  • Sometimes the Food Bank needs volunteers to help with sorting donated food, driving food to pantries and putting food together for the backpack program.

  • The food that people donate at Making Spirits Bright in Evergreen Park in the winter goes to the Sheboygan County Food Bank.

  • People can donate money also, which the Food Bank uses to buy specific food. You can send a check or donate online.

  • Plan a food drive. Organizations, groups and schools often plan food drives to collect food for the Sheboygan County Food Bank.
