September 5-8

Hello 4/5 Families!

Welcome to the weekly email! Each week I will be sending out a message with classroom news and reminders.

NEWS:

Last week the 4/5 students spent some time getting to know each other with some fun ice breakers! We played “Would You Rather” and “Two Truths and a Lie” to learn more about our classmates and help us remember everyone’s name.

We organized our supplies, got our Chromebooks and Book Club selections, and began working on our "Hopes and Dreams" for the year. On Friday the students created watercolor art pieces depicting their hopes and dreams. These will be displayed on the back wall of the classroom all year and serve as a visual reminder of the goals the students set for themselves. Ask your 4/5 grader to share their hopes and dreams with you!

Friday morning we went on a nice long hike through the woods, past the quarry, through Maywood and Evergreen Park to the Shaw Family Playground! Scroll down for photos!

REMINDER:

Each night your 4/5 grader will bring home their binder with their green planner inside. We are asking students to read 30 minutes (or more!) every night, fill out the reading log, and have their grown-up initial it. I will be checking planners every Friday. There will also be occasional math homework sent home.

Thank you 4/5 families for helping to make our first week a success! And thank you for welcoming me to the Étude community:)
