ALEKS Math Knowledge Check
Make sure you have your Chromebook and a writing utensil! Then head to your assigned table and start the do now.
[7 min] DO NOW: Login to ALEKS Math and take the tools tutorial!
Logging on to ALEKS through Clever
Click the puzzle piece in the top right corner of your Chromebook browser
Click on “Clever”
Once you are in, scroll through your apps and click McGraw Hill (red box)
Click on ALEKS Math

After you finish, please slant down your screen and wait for further instructions
[5 minutes] WHOLE GROUP INSTRUCTION: Discuss ALEKS Initial Knowledge Check Expectations
The Knowledge Check is a test that evaluates the math skills you currently have in your toolbox. Please take this assessment seriously, as it tells the program what skills you have mastered and what skills you still need to learn. This will guide your independent learning throughout the year. Since you are at the beginning of this course, it is okay if there are questions you don’t know how to do. Please try your best to answer or click the “I haven’t learned this yet” option. Here are other guidelines to follow…
You are encouraged to use paper and pencil or a whiteboard and marker
You may ONLY use a calculator if ALEKS provides one for you. This will be an icon on the right side of the screen.
All other tabs should be closed.
You may not use headphones or other personal devices (once we get into learning skills you may, but not during the knowledge check)
Please read all instructions carefully and check your answers. Once you hit next, you cannot go back through previous questions.
Do not spend too much time on one question. If you are stuck, try your best then move on to the next question.
Your voices should be off throughout the entire test session.
If you do not finish today, you will have time to finish tomorrow in class.
INDEPENDENT: Start the Initial Knowledge Check on ALEKS. Please bring the completion screen up and show me when you are done! If you do not finish today, you will have time to finish tomorrow.
Extra Time: If you finish early and have time remaining and your binder or chromebook tabs are not yet setup, please do that first! Otherwise you can explore ALEKS Math. We will review as a class how to navigate ALEKS tomorrow.
