1996 - Martha Mohn
Martha ‘Marty’ Mohn Mohn moved to the Seminole area in 1954, before the city was incorporated, with her husband Lewis, who had been offered a job as manager of the Seminole Beach Funeral Home.
When friends and family discuss the life of Martha ‘Marty’ Mohn, they all come back to one common theme: an innate love for the Seminole community.
She participated in nearly every local civic organization, was a prominent and early member of the Seminole Chamber of Commerce, and involved herself in city endeavors in other ways. Marty Mohn was called "our matriarch” by many residents of the Seminole community.
In 1972, Marty and her husband started the Lewis W. Mohn Funeral Home.
Martha and her husband, Lewis, were involved with the Seminole Volunteer Fire Department - well before Seminole Fire Rescue formed. Marty volunteered as a dispatcher for several years in the early 1960s.
A longtime member of the GFWC-Pinellas Seminole Woman’s Club, she served as president for several terms. She also served on the Seminole Historical Society board, volunteered with the Bay Ridge Business and Professional Women’s Club, the American Heart Association and the Senior Citizens Club of Seminole, and was involved with the Mu Alpha sorority of Beta Sigma Phi, serving twice as president, and the Seminole Kiwanis Club. She was a member of the Seminole United Methodist Church.
