Gene Mahoney was born in Ridgway PA and moved to Seminole in 1940.
Gene’s family, church and community were very important to him and he spent his days always trying to help someone as is evidenced by his long list of contributions, which include:
He served in US Marine Corps.
Eugene was an Eagle Scout member of Troop 340 – Seminole.
He was the Assistant Scout Master and served on many committees.
After the City of Seminole was formed in 1970 he was to first property owner to have his business annexed into the City.
He served on the Board of Adjustments for the City of Seminole.
He was the Vice-Chairman of the Seminole High Booster Club.
He helped build the Seminole High School football field and stadium.
He helped landscape Seminole High School and the Vo-Tech school.
Worked on many fundraisers for Seminole Elementary, Orange Grove Elementary, Maderia Beach Middle, and Seminole Middle and High Schools.
He helped build the Little League fields behind Seminole Elementary.
Eugene coached Little League teams.
Volunteered with the Seminole POW WOW and related BBQ’s and parades.
Past President Seminole Civic Club.
Treasurer, Past President & Director of Kiwanis Club.
Received George F. Hixon Award from Kiwanis International.
Member of the Seminole United Methodist Church since 1940 and worked on many church projects. He also served as the Chairman of the Finance Committee, Member of Administration Board, Board of Trustees and the Cemetery Committee.
Gene was a charter member of the Seminole Chamber of Commerce since its inception.
