This was the first page I laid out for the Evanstonian. I had a lot of help but ultimately it came out okay. I learned a lot working on this page, especially on the cutout of the bread basket on the bottom right corner. A few tweaks were made to it at layout that I cannot claim, like the split photo on the left. Overall, seeing that I made it purely in class time and had never used InDesign before I think it turned out well.
This page I helped layout was the first that contained a story I wrote and photos I took. I made this page in class, and looking back at it knowing the limited time I had i think it turned out well. I had less trouble with InDesign and was starting to experiment with more text variations and layouts. My favorite part about this page is the top story, I like how the image breaks up the text in the center without making the story hard to read.
This page I worked on while at layout, with help from both Izzy and Ms. Young. I kept dimension on the page through not only using horizontal lines, and having cutout photos to make the page more interesting.
This was the first page I did for the Evanstonian completely on my own and with art. I found it challenging yet more rewarding than any other pages I have made, and I am happy about how much color and character it added to the paper.
After doing the A+E art page, I thought I could try incorporating some more advanced layouts in the news section. This page helped me learn and refine my Indesign skills, which I have had the least help with. I'm proud that I got away from the strictly horizontal formatting and was able to incorporate both art and photos. I wish I had a few more photos on the page, but overall I think it turned out well.
My partner Natalie and I won our class layout competition with this page. We tried to use many cutouts and different text formats to make the page flow better and have a dynamic feel. This page really shows the growth I have had over the first semester of this school year, with huge differences in how I presented the text and images on the page.
