PLAY SYNOPSIS:
After a whirlwind Christmas Eve in which 16-year-old Clara Stalbaum struggles socially, falls in love, gets stood up, and visits a pocket dimension in which her childhood toys battle an army of mice, she finds herself alone in a barren wasteland. The mice have won, and the only thing not destroyed by their evil power is her godfather Drosselmeyer’s grandfather clock. Fortunately, it’s no ordinary clock, but a wondrous machine that merges dimensions. Winding Clara back to the start of the party, Drosselmeyer gives his goddaughter three more chances to save the world. Only this time, she can use the clock to draw help from neighboring dimensions: dimensions in which not only toys, but things like snowflakes, drinks, desserts, and an old fur hat, enjoy a life of their own.

Play Synopsis:
Hadestown tells the story of a world gone wrong - the seasons don’t change like they should, the underworld is the only place to find work, and the gods have fallen out of love. A young poet, Orpheus, promises to fix this. A hungry girl, Eurydice, just wants to live comfortably. The two fall in love and are thrust on a journey through hell and back again repairing the world as they go. However, their love is not enough to save them. Framed as a story that is told night after night only to ever reach the same end, Hadestown reflects the current struggle our world is facing to combat climate change and capitalistic greed through an epic tale of love, hope, and persistence.
