Hello my name is Mr. Acevedo and I have served as the orchestra director at ETHS since 2019. Prior to that, I taught music in River Forest, and Chicago Public Schools. In addition, I am a freelance string bassist, and bass guitarist in the Chicago area playing a variety of styles including classical, jazz, rock, and folk music but specializing in new music, and freely improvised music. I am very passionate about teaching music, and being a part of the music department at ETHS.
I have earned Bachelor’s Degrees in both String Bass Performance, and Music Education from Roosevelt University as well as a Master’s Degree in Music Education from The University of West Georgia, graduating Summa Cum Laude from all programs.
I was born in Seoul, Korea to Korean and Puerto Rican parents. I spent my childhood in Northampton, and Holyoke Massachusetts. As an Evanston resident, I enjoy spending time with my family. When the time allows, we can be found hiking, cycling, traveling, going to concerts, playing music together, enjoying Chicago's plethora of amazing restaraunts, watching a baseball game (go Cubs!), and playing games.
