What we do

A network you can actually use

Roots and Rivers Collective operates across six connected functions. Some live online, on our platform. Some live in the paddock, at the EcoHub, or in a shed somewhere off a dirt road. All of them are open to members.

Events and workshops

Skill shares, working bees, food security gatherings and hands-on training listed in one place, across the whole region. If you're running something, list it. If you're looking for something, it's probably here.

Offerings, wants and exchange

A regional swap board. Surplus produce, spare seedlings, seeds, tools, mulch, labour, requests. It reduces waste, fills gaps, and makes visible how much is already circulating informally between growers.

Land Connect

Land access is the single most persistent barrier for new and expanding growers in this region. Land Connect matches landholders with growers, supported by a governance framework designed to keep arrangements clear, fair and accountable on both sides.

Community groups directory

Sixty-two organisations mapped across the Northern Rivers — community gardens, co-ops, farms, Landcare groups, food networks. Whether you're new to the region or looking for a collaborator, start here rather than starting from scratch.

Community grants

Funding and support programs relevant to local food resilience, gathered and kept current, so small organisations without a grants officer aren't the last to know.

Community Q&A

Practical knowledge exchange, organised by topic: soil and composting, seeds and propagation, market gardens and growing, land access and sharing, food preservation, regenerative agriculture and permaculture, water and irrigation. Human knowledge and local judgment stay front and centre.
