Meet the Owner

Hi! I am Emily Ervin. As a tax professional and business owner, I value integrity. When working in any profession that involves personal information, privacy is of critical importance. I started my development of document and information integrity as a teenager. I served as a volunteer at my church. My responsibilities included serving as secretary and treasurer of the church's trustee board. Initially, I was responsible for light bookkeeping. Eventually that developed into filing information returns to the IRS, issuing W2 and 1099 forms, as necessary, and sending charitable contribution letters to donors for the applicable tax years. I have been preparing income tax returns since 1990. It started out as a hobby for family and friends. When I started college, preparing taxes for classmates became a way to earn money for extra expenses. Following college, I worked in the health care industry for about eleven years. I served as a custodian of Protected Health Information for a major hospital system. During my employment in health care, I gained more experience with securing confidential information. Some of my co-workers became tax clients and I continue to provide tax preparation services to them today. 

After my tenure as a health care worker, I worked as a tax preparer and eventually store manager for three years for a franchise company. The experience was invaluable. The feedback from customers further convinced me that providing such an important service would be continuously needed and I decided to start and build my own tax preparation practice. I completed the application process to become an IRS approved Electronic Returns Originator (ERO) and Transmitter. Ethical Max Taxes was officially established in 2018. I am listed as an approved e-file provider on the IRS website. I consistently complete the required hours of CE credits each year. This ensures that I remain knowledgeable of the ever changing tax laws and fulfill the IRS requirements as an Annual Filing Season Participant. My business is proudly accredited by the Better Business Bureau.

I am a helper by nature and I enjoy navigating some of the complexities involved in my clients' tax situations. I aim to build great working relationships and customize my services to suite the needs of each individual I serve. Sometimes you may have tax related questions or get a letter by a taxing authority after the filing deadline. You may need to still file your return after the filing deadline. Ethical Max Taxes is open year round, by appointment. I am transparent about my fees and will not adjust them without notice. I look forward to serving my clients!
