What is Pegasus?
Pegaus is a continuation high school, Pegasus High School serves students ages 16-18 who are at risk of not graduating on time because of missing credits.
Starting in 1991 as a separate ‘alternative’ school in the East Side Union High School District, Pegasus is located on the Independence High School campus. Pegasus has 120 students, six teachers, one registrar/secretary, one school counselor, one school-community specialist and one coordinator/principal. This self-contained high school houses five classrooms.
How do you earn credits?
Students must earn a minimum of 200 Credits in required courses to meet the Graduation Requirements.
Students will be enrolled in 4 core classes and 1 Homeroom class.
Students can earn partial credits from their classes every grading period:
Grading Period 1: 1.5 credits
Grading Period 2: 1.5 credits
Grading Period 3 (End of Semester): 2 credits
Grading Period 4: 1.5 credits
Grading Period 5: 1.5 credits
Grading Period 6 (End of Semester): 2 credits
*Additionally, students are expected to earn credits by completing work in their homeroom course.
Other opportunities for credit recovery include after -school classes, SVCTE, and dual enrollment.
