Digital Age Skills

Purpose

The purpose of the Digital Age Skills module is to promote deeper-level learning through technology-enhanced student projects demonstrating acquisition of both Content Area Standards and Digital Age Skills (as defined by the 2016 ISTE Standards for Students).

Digital Age Skills

The 2016 ISTE Standards for Students provide a scope and sequence for fostering seven digital age skills, or qualities, required for success in today & tomorrow's job market. They describe the college and career ready student as a(n): Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, & Global Collaborator.

Each standard includes 4 Benchmarks. These Benchmarks are further broken down into Grade-Level expectations: PreK-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12.

Personalized Professional Learning

This personalized professional learning experience is organized into 3 levels to help educators:

1) Explore the overlaps between ISTE Standards and Content Area Standards.

2) Investigate tools to provide technology-enhanced learning opportunities.

3) Implement instruction for this purpose.
