The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) identified 363 schools as in need of Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) and Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI) based on 2019 student group performance data. 100 schools were identified as TSI or ATSI because of achievement gaps for students who are multilingual learners (MLs). School staff may benefit from the mindsets, knowledge, skills, or resources to support language acquisition and increase student achievement and growth. The Region 11 Comprehensive Center (R11CC) will partner with Educational Service Unit #3 (ESU3) to support the NDE by helping to design and facilitate replicable processes focused on the use of evidence-based practices (EBPs) and continuous improvement within selected TSI and ATSI schools.
Design Team Meetings:
Identify partner roles and responsibilities, develop working agreements
Set general goal and use ICEL by RIOT to help determine the data needed for data review
Data review using Data Driven Dialogue, Data analysis and SMART goal developmentĀ
Engage in data-informed learning around ML best practice and Tier 1/Tier 2 practices
Develop an action plan/logic model and evaluation plan for school-wide professional learning
Additional Design Team Check-ins focused on implementation may be scheduled monthly or as determined by the action plan.
School Staff Engagement: Recommended to kick off with whole-staff meeting, and then integrated as a part of PLCs/Team Meetings
