The district VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a secure connection that allows you to access internal systems and resources when you're working outside the school network. Here’s when you’ll need it:
âś… Accessing Internal Systems from Home
Use the VPN when working remotely and you need to access:
Skyward (if your district restricts off-site access)
Internal file servers or shared drives
Teacher evaluation or HR platforms restricted to district IP addresses
District-only websites or dashboards
âś… Using a District-Issued Laptop Off-Campus
Connect to the VPN if you're using your district-issued device outside of school and need secure access to district resources.
đźš« You Don't Need the VPN When:
You’re on the school Wi-Fi/network (already secure)
You’re just browsing the internet, checking Gmail, or using Google Drive
You’re accessing public websites or cloud-based tools (like Canva, Kahoot, or Screencastify)
đź’ˇ Tip:
Only connect to the VPN when you need it. Keeping it on all the time may slow your connection or block access to some external websites.
