  • How does the article from the late 1800s discuss discrimination? How does it excuse the canoe club members? What attitude is revealed by the determination to pass anti-discriminatory language for club membership?

  • What is the shared struggle for many immigrant groups?

  • What factors, perceived as “other” than the majority/dominant culture are at the root of the prejudice against the groups in these articles? What other groups in history or today face “othering?”
