RICS is the world's leading qualification when it comes to professional standards in land, property and construction.

RICS is an independent professional body originally established in the UK by Royal Charter. Since 1868, RICS has been committed to setting and upholding the highest standards of excellence and integrity - providing impartial, authoritative advice on key issues affecting real estate businesses and society.

RICS in figures, it's about 120 000 RICS qualified members in 148 countries.

RICS France - created in 1993 - count 1400 members, 500 candidates, 13 accreditated courses.

Chartered Surveyors are active in a broad range of property-related activities. They can be academics, appraisers, building surveyors, architects, engineers, commercial property agents, corporate property managers, cost consultants, environment experts, facilities managers, bankers and finance & investment managers, real estate lawyers, property asset managers, urban planners...

ACCREDITATION OF THE REAL ESTATE TRACK OF THE ESSEC MSc IN MANAGEMENT


The RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) officially accredited the ESSEC MSc in Management, Real Estate course in July 2008. It is one of the 13 courses accredited by RICS.


This accreditation allows our chair graduates to register as RICS-trainee once they enter the professional world. This specialized track will allow ESSEC MSc in Management students to join the prestigious Chartered Surveyors institution.


The activities and subjects of the Real Estate and Sustainable Development Chair integrate actual real estate issues, such as the market “financialization”, the development and the globalization of corporate property markets, the appearance of new actors in the financial management of these assets, the development and the recognition of the corporate real estate manager function within the company strategy.


The ESSEC so confirms its position of first management school in Europe creating a pole of competence in the real estate management, economy and finance by proposing real estate courses in initial training.

The RICS reaccreditated the ESSEC Real Estate track for 5 years in June 2018.

POSSIBLE ROUTES TO RICS MEMBERSHIP

There are 5 main pathways that lead all candidates to a final exam. The first three are based on holding a degree from an accredited course. The difference between these types of access is based on the length of professional experience (less than 5 years, more than 5 years, more than 10 years).

> For Real Estate and Sustainable Development Chair students:

The Real Estate - RICS track is only available for students who have passed the Real Estate and Sustainable Development Chair and who wish to obtain the title of Chartered Surveyors. The Real Estate RICS track is a programm accredited by the RICS, allowing to its students to apply for the Chartered Surveyor title without having 10 years' professional experience.

To complete the RICS Track successfully, students must pass ALL the Real Estate and Sustainable Development Chair courses and seminars and do a 6 months-internship.


> For Real Estate professionals:

There are three other routes to membership for professionals who weren't student on a RICS accredited course and who have 10 years' relevant experience : Adaptation route for professionals who have graduated from a non-accredited degree or have an RICS approved professional qualification, the Senior Professional route for experienced professionals who are in a senior industry position and have one or more university degrees and the Academic route for academics teaching or researching on an RICS accredited degree.

They qualify as MRICS after passing the RICS Final Assessment process. Once they can show the highest level of accomplishment and have made significant contributions to RICS or the profession in general, they may apply for fellowship (FRICS).
