Founder and president of Maison Landemaine, Land&Monkeys, and Yumgo Food
Claire Nouvian is president and founder of the nonprofit conservation organization BLOOM, based in Paris and Hong Kong. Her research and activities focus on deep-sea fisheries and shark consumption habits. In Asia, Nouvian and BLOOM’s co-workers aim to improve the degraded conservation status of shark populations by ultimately making shark fin soup a socially unacceptable dish. Nouvian’s approach is designed to make corporations act as trend-setters in society, specifically the luxury segment of the hospitality industry, andto make the banning of shark dishes part of corporate policy. In Europe, Nouvian is dedicated to studying the nature of deep-sea fishing. Her work on this topic has included the organization of a press conference and “science tour” of political entities, a scientific workshop on deep-sea fisheries in an ecosystem-based context, and a legal workshop on deep-sea bottom trawling. She conducted a detailed analysis on the few remaining deep-sea fishing companies in France to reveal that despite receiving substantial public subsidies, the three main fleet owners are chronically unprofitable. While producing this analysis, Nouvian identified public aid to French fisheries as an area worthy of in-depth research and increased transparency.Originally trained as a baker and pastry chef, Rodolphe Landemaine honed his craft in prestigious establishments before starting his own business in 2007 by founding his first bakery, MAISON LANDEMAINE. Today, the artisan entrepreneur heads two bakery brands, encompassing a total of 30 establishments driven by over 500 employees.
In 2014, having followed a vegetarian diet since childhood, Rodolphe adopted veganism and began collaborating with associations to promote this environmentally and animal-friendly lifestyle. In 2018, the early stages of two joint projects took shape, leading in 2020 to the creation of LAND&MONKEYS, the first 100% plant-based bakery in Paris, and YUMGO, a plant-based egg white substitute for professionals. Today, Land&Monkeys is expanding through franchising and opened its first location in Bordeaux in 2024.
An entrepreneur and activist, Rodolphe decided in 2022 to bridge the gap between the corporate world and the public interest, discovering the "Shareholder Foundation" model alongside Prophil®. This reflection led to the creation of the DEMAIN SUR TERRE endowment fund, with the mission of food resilience and the regeneration of life.
A true open-air laboratory, the DOMAINE DU COSTIL, acquired by the Landemaine family in Normandy and transferred to the Demain sur Terre Fund, is already a space for experimenting with practical solutions to address local economic and social challenges.
