APPLIED ECONOMICS SUB-TRACK

    Fundamental course :

It is possible to replace at most one of the elective courses with a research UV in economics under the supervision of a professor from the department, with the approval of the coordinators of the track.

ESSEC students who participate in exchange programs with partner universities can validate at most one course in economics in the partner institution, provided that the course complies with the quality standards of the department of economics. The student who applies for this equivalence should provide a detailed syllabus of the course, and the final grade. The department examines the syllabus and decides whether to accept or not the demand of equivalence.

The pre-requisite for acceptance to the Applied Economics option of the Economics Track is passing the following courses with a minimum grade of 10/20: ECOI31080/081 and IDSS31080/081 for AST students, or ECOI21020, ECOA21030 and IDSS21020/30 for ASC students. Students interested in the Applied Economics option should prepare an application file consisting of

• a motivation letter

• a CV

• a transcript of grades

Successful completion of the economics track requires passing the required courses of the track as well as five of the electives with a grade higher than or equal to 12/20.

RESEARCH SUB-TRACK

The Research option allows students to follow all courses in the first year of the ESSEC PhD program in economics. The students following the research option can also obtain the degree Master Recherche Économie et Finance (M2) from CY Cergy Paris University in addition to their Grande École degree. Depending on their performance, the students may continue their studies in the second year of the PhD in Economics at ESSEC or apply for international PhD programs.The admission in the Research Option is subject to regulations of the ESSEC PhD program.

The selection process takes place before the end of April for the academic year that follows. Preparation of the application may require several weeks (GRE or GMAT scores, letters of recommendation, transcripts…).

After admission, an advisor from the economics department will advise the student in the design of his/her curriculum and provide  help with the professional orientation. The requirements for the successful completion of the research option will closely follow the rules set for ESSEC research master programs. The validation of the curriculum will be done according to the rules set by the management for all MiM programs (research master).
