Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who can apply for the ESM Scholarship Programme?

The scholarship is open to both internal and external applicants, provided that all eligibility criteria and requirements are met.

• Internal applicants: Current ESM students in Grades 4–11

• External applicants: Students applying to join:

  • Junior School - PYP (Grade 5, 2026-2027)

  • Lower Secondary  (Grades 6–8, 2026-2027)

  • Upper Secondary - IGCSE (entry into Grade 9, 2026-2027)

  • Sixth Form - DP (entry into Grade 11, 2026-2027)

Applicants from other education systems should apply to the equivalent year level.

2. Can I apply if I am not currently studying at ESM?

Yes. We welcome applications from students currently studying at other schools in the specified year groups or their equivalent year levels. External applicants are required to complete English and Mathematics assessments as part of the selection process.

3. Can I apply to the scholarship if I've already paid tuition for next year?

Yes. If tuition has already been paid and you are chosen to receive a scholarship, then the amount awarded will be refunded. 

4. What does the scholarship cover?

The scholarship is applied only towards tuition fees for the 2026–2027 academic year. It is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for any other benefit.

5. Are there different categories of scholarships I can apply for?

No. For the Academic Year 2026–2027, ESM offers a single scholarship category: the All-Round Excellence Scholarship. This scholarship recognises students who demonstrate strong academic performance alongside achievements in areas such as sports, arts, leadership, and community involvement. Applicants are expected to be well-rounded individuals who actively contribute to school life, rather than specialising in only one area.

6. How much funding can I receive?

Scholarship awards range from 1,000,000 MNT to 20,000,000 MNT, depending on the strength of the application and evaluation results.

7. How are scholarship decisions made?

Decisions are based on a fair, consistent, and evidence-based evaluation of:

• Academic performance

• Behaviour and attendance

• Contribution to school life

• Personal qualities and potential

• Application materials and interview performance

8. Do I need to attend an interview?

Yes. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview:

• Internal applicants: in person

• External applicants: online or in person

9. Can I submit my application after the deadline?

No. Late applications will not be accepted under any circumstances. The application portal will close automatically at the deadline.

10. Can I edit my application after submitting it?

No. Once submitted, applications cannot be edited. Please ensure all information is correct before submission.

11. Do I need to upload supporting documents?

Yes. Applicants must provide evidence of achievements, such as certificates, reports, or other relevant documents where required.

12. What happens if I submit incomplete or incorrect information?

Incomplete or false information will result in disqualification from the scholarship process.

13. Do I need approval from parents and teachers?

Yes. Applications must be supported by:

• Parent/guardian approval

• Two Teacher references

Your application will not be considered complete without these.

14. Can I apply if I have outstanding school fees?

No. Internal applicants must have no outstanding tuition fees at the time of application.

15. How long is the scholarship valid?

Scholarships are awarded for one academic year only. Students must reapply each year if they wish to be considered again.

16. When will the results be announced?

Final results of individuals receiving scholarships will be announced at 10:00 AM on 8th May 2026 via the school website and information board. Successful applicants will also be contacted by email informing them of their scholarship amount.

17. Can the scholarship decision be appealed?

No. All decisions are final and approved by the Director and cannot be changed.
