Descriptor: An extended school year (ESY) service option for children in grades K-10 with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other developmental disabilities requiring intensive, targeted, specially designed instruction over the summer to prevent skill regression and increase skill retention. Participants will enjoy a four-week summer program that includes themed weeks, embedded academic learning strands, and individualized work on IEP goals. Each participant will also receive support services from an occupational therapist and speech therapist. Activities include thematic units, swimming, crafts, outdoor play, academic instruction in core subject areas, adaptive behavior skill building, social skills training, sensory experiences, and more! The sessions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Descriptor: Camp L.U.C.K.Y. (Language Unlocks Communication for Kids. Yes!) is our very popular summer camp for children who demonstrate delays in the area of social skills, language and speech. Camp L.U.C.K.Y. is offered to all children between the developmental ages of 2 to 5 years of age who need to improve their social skills and/or speech/language development. Our campers may need to improve eye-contact, sharing, turn-taking, staying on topic, maintaining a conversation, empathy, and/or the overall intelligibility of speech. We address IEP (Individualized Education Plan) goals if needed. We work closely with Ohio school districts to help them meet the needs of their students during the summer and throughout the school year if requested. Camp L.U.C.K.Y is highly specialized to meet the individual needs within a group setting. The maximum number of children per group is six. Each week presents a new and exciting theme that children of all ages truly enjoy but most importantly benefit from! We have 300 skilled tutors for all subjects in all grades, come to your home or a nearby public location. We also specialize in basic skills – reading and math. And we are known for working with children with learning differences: learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADHD, cognitive delay, Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, PDD, and other struggling learners. We are Jon Peterson and Autism Scholarship Providers. Recently we developed a multi-sensory systematic phonics program for children in Pre-K to Grade 2. With puppets, animation, and children in five-minute videos, the teacher/parent is trained as the child learns to read. The child has the same materials modeled in the videos to practice the new skill they have learned. Descriptor: Silver Lining Group's summer sessions are an extension of our Center-Based Educational/Intervention Services. We provide individuals with autism, Down syndrome, mental health disorders, and developmental disabilities a structured and fun summer environment while working on goals established by the child's IEP/ISP team.
In addition, we do provide Extended School Year services, a program that provides children with disabilities IEP services during the summer months. Extended School Year, like most other special education programs, varies from school district to school district. Depending upon your child's needs and abilities (and on your school district), it may be possible to get ESY funding for summer intervention.
