1302.34 Parent and Family engagement in education and child development services
Family Connections are valuable in building respectful relationships with parents/guardians and in developing a broad understanding of every child in the program. Each child’s family must have four Family Connections during the school year, two at home and two at school. If a child enrolls after January 1st, a minimum of one family connection in the home in the first 45 days. A second family connection must be conducted before the end of the program year.
First Family Connection should take place within the first 45 calendar days of initiation of services
Have a back-and-forth conversation with the family about yourself, the curriculum, the menu, and the activity record. Try to answer any questions/concerns the family may have.
Second Family Connection must be completed by the provided deadline.
Family Service Advocates (FSA) and teachers will conduct family connections at the home as a team.
