Special Programs in Central Texas
About: The STEPS is a program that provides a path for students with mild to moderate disabilities to cultivate skills for a successful future. By valuing each student's unique abilities and developing their individual potential, we provide educational enrichment and the skills for meaningful employment. Our students graduate with confidence, self-reliance and the tools to become a vital member of the community.
College Living Experience (CLE)
About: Provider of post-secondary supports for young adults with learning differences. Dedicated to providing the highest quality of services, we strive to propel young adults toward success as they journey through their transition to independence. CLE students pursue their academic program or career of interest while also receiving services across the domains of independent living and social skill development.
About: E4Texas is for people who are 18 years and older and have graduated from high school, or have a GED, and want to be a Personal Care Attendant. The E4Texas experience combines classroom instruction with practical career building experiences in addition to independent living skills and self-determination.
Informal Classes for Adults with I/DD at UT
About: UT's Informal Classes, aimed at Adults with IDDS, offer semester long continued educational opportunities at the University of Texas at Austin for Adults with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. This program aims to promote affordable life-long learning for adults with intellectual disabilities while providing an opportunity to connect socially with adult peers with and without intellectual disabilities on the University of Texas campus. Courses are offered through UT's informal classes program.
About: The PATHS Certificate Program is your path to a successful career as a Direct Support Professional working with people with disabilities, Para-Professional working within the schools, or as a Child Care Professional working with children.
Project Access at Alamo Colleges, Palo Alto Campus (San Antonio)
About: Program for students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities to take college-level courses to earn their 16-credit General Office Level 1 Certificate and acquire necessary skills for gainful employment and a successful future.
Special Programs Across Texas
CASE (Connections for Academic Success and Employment) at Texas Tech University
About: The CASE program assists students with Autism and other developmental disabilities to navigate college and empower them to reach their postsecondary academic goals and to find competitive employment after graduation.
The CASE program offers an innovative college support program for students, diagnosed with Autism and other developmental disabilities pursuing an academic degree at Texas Tech University or South Plains College in West Texas. With the support of the Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research, the CASE program provides research-based, customized supports for students to facilitate their successful transition to college and the entrance into competitive employment after graduation.

Transition Academy at Texas Tech University
About: The Transition Academy works to fill the need of young adults 18 to 30 years of age who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and aspire to be competitively emnployed. The Transition Academy is a non-residential program that emphasizes job and social skills that lead to productive, dignified employment as well as life skills that enrich the overall lifetime experience.

Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf at Howard College (Big Spring)

VAST Academy at Houston Community College
About: Provides post-secondary transition programs and comprehensive support services, which lead to meaningful credentials, employment and independence for differently-abled individuals. Opportunities include vocational certificates, pre-college and freshman success bridge courses, career readiness credentials, internships and employment assistance offered through an inclusive, relevant and affordable avenue.
