As the world moves steadily to adopt digital technologies in all aspects of life, the need for various regulations to govern the storage, processing, and transfer of data becomes increasingly important. On September 1st, 2019, Texas Senate Bill 820 (SB-820) went into effect, requiring all Texas LEAs to adopt a cybersecurity policy, appoint a cybersecurity coordinator, and report information security breaches.
Scinary’s Governance Risk Management and Compliance software (Scinary GRC) is a solution developed to help LEAs easily rate themselves based on the DIR Texas Cybersecurity Framework (TCF). The TCF can be found at https://dir.texas.gov/information-security/security-policy-and-planning/texas-cybersecurity-framework.
LEAs complete a series of questions in Scinary GRC. The software will then generate and show the LEA their maturity measurement in relation to the TCF matrix. The Scinary GRC tool can assist the LEA in keeping track of documentation to meet the TCF objectives and controls. It can be used as a roadmap for the LEA to improve over time.
