During the 2019-2020 school year, URockEDU Coaches worked with educators in multiple schools in the ESC Region 11 area. Our coaches made 741 coaching visits and recorded 523 WINS for Texas teachers and schools.
URockEDU has coached in various districts for the past 8 years. The coaches are an integral part of the campuses learning communities, as well as coaching campus leadership. All decisions are data driven and based on student outcomes based on the needs of the various districts and campuses. At ESC Region 11 our mission is to lead and serve.
During the Spring of 2020 URockEdu Coaches were put to the test and rose the the occasion. Due to Covid we came out stronger and with a new series of training called Engage by Design. Since March 2020 our URockEdu team has trained over 10,000 teachers in the state of Texas and beyond. Read more.
The 2020-2021 school year marked a continuation of a 8-year, ongoing partnership between ESC Region 11 and Ponder ISD. This year, the new cadre received year-long, embedded support with a focus for "each student [to] have the confidence, passion and preparation to be successful at whatever they choose" (Ponder ISD Mission Statement).
At the start of the cadre partnership, the H.E.A.T. Instructional Framework was chosen to be implemented district-wide as part of their campus improvement plan. To support teachers in this instructional model, ESC Region 11 coaches conducted customized professional development workshops for both elementary and secondary cadre members as well as individual coaching on all three campuses throughout the year. Lake Dallas High School administrators requested to partner with ESC Region 11 to incorporate future-ready instructional strategies that foster student-centered classrooms. This partnership provided embedded professional learning throughout the year for a cadre of sixteen teachers, many of which were new to Lake Dallas High School. The 2020-2021 school year marks our 4th year to partner Lake Dallas High School. This school year Lake Dallas Middle School also came on board for coaching. This year our ESC coaches will coach 36 Lake Dallas ISD teachers.
Members of the cadre met with an ESC Region 11 Instructional Coach to plan, research, and discuss powerful, student-centered instructional strategies. Then, as the teachers implemented the new strategies in their classrooms, they reflected and received feedback from their coach. Read more.
Decatur ISD is committed to providing a quality education where students will learn digitally, think creatively, and compete globally. ESC Region 11 coaches have worked for the past 3 years with DISD to help them achieve their goals. This partnership has provided several years of embedded professional learning for a cadre of teachers at the intermediate, middle and high school level.
Teachers meet bi-weekly with their ESC 11 coach to plan, create data driven, highly rigorous lessons for the students in Decatur.
One of Aubrey ISD's goals, as mentioned in their District Strategic Plan, was to ensure "innovative and challenging learning environment in all classrooms PK–12". In the partnership between ESC Region 11 and Aubrey ISD, a Problem-Based Learning (PrBL) Model was developed and customized that supported the high academic and cultural expectations of the community. A cohort of 12 district "Pioneers" experimented with the implementation of the program while being supported via ESC Region 11 instructional coaches.
Arlington Collegiate High School's website states that "Every student will participate in an integrated high school and collegiate academic program as evidenced by academic excellence (and) development of critical thinking skills." To that end, ACHS partnered with ESC Region 11 in 2017- 2018 to coach a cadre of seven teachers whose primary focus would be in the areas of rigor and critical thinking instructional strategies.
H.F. Stevens Middle School administrators requested to partner with ESC Region 11 to increase authentic student engagement. The VESTED Instructional Approach was chosen as the form of lesson design to transform instruction for all students. To provide support in this new instructional model, ESC Region 11 conducted trainings, facilitated Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and coached individual teachers.
In addition to VESTED training, teachers in the Media Arts Academy attended ESC Region 11 Project-Based Learning (PBL) Academy in the fall and received on-campus coaching support for PBL implementation during the spring semester.
One of Gainesville ISD's goals was to implement more student-centered learning in their classrooms. ESC Region 11 partnered with Gainesville ISD to bring project-based learning (PBL) to Gainesville. As a first step in implementing project-based learning, the teachers were introduced to the components of PBL which include collaboration, relevancy and authenticity, inquiry, public audience, reflection, revision and feedback, and voice and choice. Teachers implemented these components into transformational lessons. At the end of the school year, many teachers in the cadre explored full PBL units and look forward to implementing Project-Based Learning in the future.
Millsap Elementary partnered with ESC Region 11 during 2017-18 school year. Our journey began by reviewing district STAAR writing data. Millsap ISD was in search of a research-based writing program that would allow them to provide rich literacy learning experiences through the implementation of the workshop model framework for all classrooms K-4.
