On Friday, April 12th 5th grade students went to Miyajima for a field trip.
Students traveled to the island by ferry. After arriving on the island we took a class picture.
The reason we came to Miyajima was to climb Mt. Misen. Under the perfect blue sky, students and teachers climbed to the summit. Along the way we saw lots of beautiful nature, such as tall trees, clear rivers, and even some deer, too!
Climbing to the top was difficult because there were many stairs, but students did their best and we saw an amazing view.
After eating our lunch at the top of Mt. Misen we began our climb down the mountain. Going down the stairs was hard on our knees, but the students were in good spirits.
Miyajima is a popular tourist spot for people from all over the world. As students climbed up and down the mountain they saw many tourists from overseas. The students were shy at first, but started to say 'hello' whenever we saw people on the trail. It was really great to hear students talk about how excited they were to say hello to the tourists they met. I'm sure that the tourists were also happy and will always remember the friendly, happy children they met in Hiroshima.
When we made it back onto the ferry, the students look tired, but very happy. Hiking a mountain is not easy, but they did a great job!
It was a perfect day.
Let's learn, play, and grow together!
