Junior Post-Secondary Planning begins!
During the first week of January, the School Counseling department met with all juniors to kick off the postsecondary planning process. Students participated in a counselor-led lesson about finding the "right fit" school. In addition, all juniors were assigned the "Junior Planning Sheet" which can be found in the class of 2025 Google Classroom. Students must complete this form prior to parents/guardians calling the counseling office to schedule the postsecondary planning meeting. Please contact your child's school counselor or Mr. Madden with any questions.
Appointments are filling up fast. Please make your appointment ASAP!
What is the Junior Planning Meeting?
The Junior Planning meeting is a great opportunity for students and families to meet with their school counselor to start the college & career exploration process. Meetings will be tailored to the individual interests, aspirations, and college and career goals of each student. During this meeting, counselors will:
Outline college admissions timelines and set goals for each student to meet keeping them on track
Review and discuss testing dates/strategy/preparation
Discuss potential college majors or careers
Discuss the college essay and how to get started
Teach students and parents how to use the Naviance platform to assist with their searched
Onboard students and families onto the new "Level All" college and career program
Provide students and families with a tentative college, trade school, and/or career list
Answer any and all questions students and families have about post-high school transition planning
College Admissions Fact:
Many colleges track your "interest" in their school. To "demonstrate" interest one thing you can do is attend college fairs and connect with representatives. Most of the representatives you meet at the fairs will be the person directly reviewing your application for admission.
Don't miss out on these opportunities!
New College and Career Platform
All Juniors received an email on 2/27 to onboard them onto the Level All Platform. Level All is a great resource for students and parents to explore their college and career interests. We look forward to expanding this platform to other grades in the near future.
