"Since we have shifted into distance learning, there have been more challenges around what the student can create and how they can create it. This has become especially difficult in photography. If we were on campus, the students would have access to cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, editing software, etc. Now through distance learning, we have had to become more creative with how we learn about photography. This year, the students did not let these challenges of not having the equipment stand in their way of creating great art and venturing out into learning how artists share their work in a digital world. Using whatever cameras the students had available we ventured into learning about photography and sharing photographs with the world. In the photography classes, I have taught the kids the basics of the art of photography and I have taught them how artists share their work in the digital age. My two photography classes have created websites that include portfolios of their work as well as a blog. Students have developed portfolios of their work and built websites using templates. They have also included blogs that explore and document their process. Students have had to become resourceful in photographing the world around them, and some have even documented the time we are in through their concept. They have worked through this challenge and created some truly wonderful art. The sample of work shows that when students are challenged they can rise to the occasion. "
