Fall Field Trip
8th graders will walk to the local farmers market and learn about sustainability within our area, write poetry, paddle board over a sunken ship, learn about Elk Rapids history, and much more!
Winter Leelanau Outdoor Center
8th graders students will spend the entire day engaging in winter activities and team building exercises
Spring Leelanau Outdoor Center
7th graders will spend 3 days and two nights out in Leelanau county in a camp setting
State of Michigan Special Olympics volunteer opportunities
7th graders cheer on athletes as they compete at the State winter games, as well as directly interact with the athletes at during special games at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa
Maplehurst Fall Field Trip
6th graders will spend the day out at Maple Bay preserve participating in hands on activities which include mapping, mountain biking with Norte, eco scavenger hunt and more!
Swim Lessons at the Civic Center
6th graders will engage in swim lessons focusing on stroke development and water safety
Winter Olympics
6th graders will participate in the CMS Winter Olympics. This fun filled day will be spent outside around the school grounds competing in a variety of events representing different cultures.
CMS Cardio Room
This room offers students the opportunity to focus their workouts on a more personal level. The cardio room has 3 treadmills, a rowing machine, recumbent bike, upright bike, yoga mats, resistance bands and access to hundreds of workout programs on demand.
Before School Weight Lifting
Led by two staff members, students meet at the high school weight room and are taught how to properly lift.
Fitnessgram Testing
All students will be tested twice a year in a health-related physical fitness assessment. Parents will receive students scores via email. Click here for more information.
Archery
Students learn how to shoot blunt tipped arrows with a compound bow during regular PE classes. The focus is on safety and reflection.
Project Healthy Schools
PHS is a school-based program that focuses on teaching students healthy eating habits, developing healthy school environments and much more. Click here for more information.
CMS 5k Color Run
This untimed fun run is hosted by SLAM (student leadership achieves more). Students, families and the community are invited to participate in this end of the year event.
Snow Chasers
After school ski and snowboard club that is held at Schuss Mountain. Lessons are available to all students.
