LLOYD MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM OF STUDIES
One of the most important tasks facing us each year is the selection of courses for each of our students. From the many choices and educational opportunities offered at Lloyd High School, we must create the best possible program for each individual student. To meet this challenge, parents, students, teachers, counselors, and administrators must become involved. We absolutely must have the best thinking of all concerned. Possible career paths and future goals of students should also be considered.
It is essential that we all understand that gaining an education cannot be an effortless and painless experience; commitment, hard work, and determination are required. We certainly do not want our students to choose unrealistic programs of study, neither do we want them to be unchallenged, unprepared, and unfulfilled. We must work as a team, each doing his or her part to meet individual student needs.
The Program of Studies booklet provides the information and guidance necessary for planning and decision-making. Please take time to study this booklet and do not hesitate to ask questions of any of the professional staff.

It is emphasized that the College Preparatory Curriculum requirements represent only a minimum preparation for college entrance. Those students who are sincerely interested in college should include additional college prep courses that reflect their individual aspirations and strengths. A vigorous academic senior year is also absolutely essential. Likewise post-secondary technical and vocation education is heavily dependent on an adequate preparation. While there is no set pre-technical curriculum in an established format, a strong background in communication, math, and computers skills is essential.
STUDENT CLASSIFICATION
Your grade level and homeroom placement is determined by the number of credits that have been completed preceding the opening of school. YOU WILL REMAIN UNDER THIS CLASSIFICATION AND HOMEROOM FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR. A full academic program is required during the school year.
4.5 Credits for Sophomore classification
10.0 Credits for Junior classification
15.5 Credits for Senior classification
COURSE ENROLLMENT
All students at Lloyd must enroll in 6 courses, except fifth-year students who are required to take only those courses necessary for graduation.
CREDIT RECOVERY
In the event of failure, credit may be made up through approved summer school or through credit recovery. Admission to summer school will be at the discretion of the school administration.
COURSE SELECTIONS
We recommend that every student work on a planned program throughout the four years of high school; therefore, we have listed the course subjects by the year you will need them in order to progress at an even pace to graduate.

VOCATIONAL/TECHNICAL SCHOOL
The Vocational/Technical Program provides an outstanding opportunity for high school students to gain well-developed skills that can provide both employment and personal satisfaction. Students who plan to attend college may wish to include Vocational School in their high school plans. Students who plan to enter the adult world upon high school graduation should definitely give serious consideration to these educational opportunities.
