The FRYSC’s mission is to enhance student’s ability to succeed in school by developing and sustaining partnerships that promote early learning and successful transition into school, academic achievement and well being, and graduation and successful transition into adult life. FRYSC’s are able to act as a bridge between social service agencies and schools.
The FRYSC’s vision is to establish the national standard of excellence in the provision of school based family support.
The high school and middle school Youth Service Centers provide numerous activities or referrals under the following components:
Health Services or Referrals to Health Services
Employment Counseling, Training, Placement for Students and Families
Summer and part time job development for students
Family Crisis and Mental Health Counseling
Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counseling
Basic Needs
The school based Kentucky Family Resource and Youth Service Centers are designed to promote the flow of resources and support to families in ways to strengthen the functioning and enhance the growth and development of the individual members of the family unit.
Each Family Resource and Youth Service Center will utilize a unique blend of approaches when addressing the mandated components contained in the legislation and optional components as determined by an on-going needs assessment, evaluation of the school/community needs, available resources and the input of the advisory council serving the center.
