Summary of roles:
My career experience includes the role of family counselor, youth/play therapist, couples therapist, and individual therapist. I have been a manager, clinical supervisor, and program director for intensive community-based services. I have found myself drawn to the growth that is fostered through interpersonal connections in individual therapy, which brings me to my practice focus today.
Professional Background
I received my master's degree in mental health counseling from Boston College in 2012. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Massachusetts and am Certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) by Postpartum Support International.
My post-masters training is rooted in trauma-informed care, complex family systems, and perinatal mental health. My early work involved providing family therapy and youth play therapy to families affected by adoption and complex-blended families. I then moved to providing intensive home-based family therapy. These experiences provided me a lens into the complex role parents and caregivers play through all stages. I also felt drawn to the individual stories and connections with each person in the family unit.
Before working in my own practice, I provided individual therapy for an array of issues with a specific focus on pre- and postpartum mood disorders. This work also included individual therapy with children and parent coaching.
Through all the facets of my experience, I noticed that anxiety was pervasive, not only with clients but with my supervisees and colleagues in the field. Whatever my role, I have always found it valuable to help people understand how to feel empowered over their anxiety.
I feel grateful that these experiences have guided me to my practice focus today, creating a safe space for individuals to pursue their own self-exploration and growth.
Training and Certifications:
I have received extensive training on pre- and post-partum mental health and am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Counselor. I also have completed certificate trainings in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Perinatal Mood Disorders and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I regularly attend trainings on the most up to date treatment modalities.
