Step 5 // Dividing up our participants into groups

We decided to make five groups out of the participants. We had one control group, without any particular conditions. We had two groups playing music in headphones, one group with classical music and one group with pop music. We also had two groups who were playing music on speakers, one group with pop and one group with classical.

However, not everything went to plan. On the day of the trial, we ended up with more children in the control group than the other groups due to absences and participants changing their minds. This left us with a bit of a problem. Since we wanted our data to be valid, we decided to split the control groups randomly for the purpose of analysis. This would ensure that it was fair.

We assigned each participant a code in order to keep their details private. We used these codes to analyse at the end.
