NOMINATION FORMS FOR ELECTION 11/2022
VICE PRESIDENT: Lisa Zielenske
Previous Region IX Supervisor and current Director of Competitions on the AVA Board.
ASSISTANT REGIONAL SUPERVISOR: Heather Berger
I coach, lunge, and manage High Flyers vaulting club in Pottsville, PA. We have 18 vaulters in our club. Our club enjoys competing and training year round. We have 4 vaulting horses at our home and run practices on our farm and in our home gym. We have a young team that wants to see the sport grow. As a coach and manager of our club I have made connections in the sport across the US and have started to make connections in Europe. Forging these connections and relationships helps our vaulters find horses to barrow and options to train at. Throughout the winter months we try to bring in a clinician each month to work with vaulters. I open these clinics up to vaulters outside I club in an effort to grow the knowledge of vaulting on the East Coast.
I want to see the sport grow and become part of the Olympics. I want to give the vaulters on the East Coast the chance to work with some of the best coaches and vaulters in order to expand their knowledge. I want nothing more than to see more vaulters in our region making a run for Jr Worlds/Sr Worlds.
SECRETARY: Barbara M Smith
I have held the position of Region IX Treasurer since 2020 and have maintained all records timely and efficiently. I developed a detailed budget for the 2022 Regionals, which allowed us to have a more accurate idea of our financing, leaving room in the budget for expenditures on additional items such as the ice cream social and improved arena decorations
Goals: Improved communication, training of volunteers, providing more clinic opportunities at Regionals.
I have managed scoring at many events since 2021, making the scoring process more efficient. I also developed meaningful relationships with AVA management at the 2022 Nationals when I managed scoring for this important event.
TREASURER: Kimberly Sturgeon
Past history of participating on the Board in the Secretary position.
Goal: Competition Organization
Enjoy helping where I can.

We’d love to have more competitions/ fests that help sustain this region in its drive to maintaining the region for the AVA. I’m willing to travel to help raise more teams for the region!
Knowledgeable about the rule books, both AVA, and FEI, and willing to help by volunteering, and coordinating events especially in New England.
CENTRAL REP: Danielle Evans
After my kids stopped vaulting competitively, we thought we were done with vaulting. However, I soon realized that I truly enjoyed the sport and missed being a part of it. Everything from the riding of the horses, the coaching, to the thrill of competitions, I had found my passion. With this new discovery, I want to take a more active role in our Region. I feel that my years as a coach and parent give me the perspective and experience to assist our Region continue to be the best Region in USA Vaulting!
I would love to find a way to have more educational opportunities in the Central Region. Many times we have spoken of a Spirit of Vaulting, it's a fantastic idea, we need to make it happen.
SOUTHERN REP: Andrea Selch
I have a lot of previous experience working with other non-profit organizations. I've been on the board of AVA for 5 years, and on the Executive Board for the last three years. I'm attentive and a good communicator.
As usual, I think our best goal is to grow the sport. The AVA has had approximately the same number of members for about 20 years--which means that just as many vaulters leave the organization as join it each year. We need to turn that around--keep members for more years!
