Entebbe International Airport is the only international airport in Uganda. Group transportation will be provided from the airport in Entebbe to the conference location in Mbarara on June 25 and June 27. Ground transportation will also be provided on the return trip, from Mbarara to Entebbe, on June 30 only. Upon advance notice and prior arrangement, airport pickup may be provided on an individual basis—please email info@equalhealth.org for more details.
While your registration does not include accommodations, EqualHealth has secured a discounted conference rate at several hotels in Mbarara. Hotel information will be updated on the conference website. Currently, we estimate hotel rooms per night in Mbarara to range in price from $50-120 USD, and hotel rooms in Entebbe near the airport to range from $80-200 USD per night.
Registrants who are not Ugandan nationals, or nationals from one of the Uganda visa-exempt countries, will need a visa to enter Uganda. Visa information can be found here. The conference invitation letter is one of the documents you will need when submitting your visa application. Invitation letters will be sent to registrants within five days of their registration to facilitate the visa application submission. If you have not received your letter, please email info@equalhealth.org.
The Uganda border control officers allow categories of people to enter Uganda through the designated ports. Persons with whom a visa is not a requirement to enter Uganda. This is often true for visa exempt countries, where a country of origin has a bilateral relationship with the Uganda government for their citizens to enter either country without a visa requirement. The second category are those who require a visa to enter Uganda.
According to the Uganda immigration border control services, nationals from the following countries are on the visa exempt list of the Uganda government. Angola, Eritrea, Malawi, Madagascar, Seychelles, Swaziland, Zambia, Comoros, Kenya, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Antigua, Barbados, Fiji,Grenada, Lesotho, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Cyprus, Bahamas, Belize, Gambia, Jamaica, Malta, Singapore, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Unless otherwise stated in an official document, all nationals outside these countries are treated as requiring a visa to enter Uganda. Below, we provide the information you need to apply for a visa to enter Uganda. The information we provide here are from the official Uganda websites. Whether a visa is granted or not is dependent on the border control officer.
All persons intending to travel to Uganda for holiday, tourism, business, study, visit, and/or medical care are required to apply and obtain a visa online. Applications should be filled at the following link: https://visas.immigration.go.ug
There are four steps on the official application website:

Uganda Ordinary visa: $50 (single entry)
East Africa Tourist Visa: $100
Multiple-Entry (6 Months is $100, 12 months is $100, 24 months is $150)

The official application portal through which all online applications, including visas to Uganda are made is https://www.visas.immigration.go.ug/
Your local Uganda Embassy, in most cases, responds within a week of your visa application, but may take up to 3 weeks to get a response, so the earlier you can submit an application, the better.

Vaccination certificate (Yellow Fever)
The Uganda Tourist e Visa is valid for 90 days after issued.
The maximum stay is 45 days in Total, and it is valid for one Single Entry (it is not a multiple entry visa).
The applicant must be outside the Republic of Uganda at the time of application.
The applicant must not have any other current e Visa Uganda valid when applying.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months upon entering Uganda.
This visa cannot be changed to a work visa while inside the Republic of Uganda.
It is best to print and carry this travel authorization when entering Uganda as it may help you speed up the entry process
The applicant must travel to Uganda with the same passport used during the Visa online Uganda application process.

Do I need a COVID 19 vaccine or vaccination certificate to enter Uganda?
Yes, a COVID-19 full vaccination certificate is needed to enter Uganda or a negative PCR test within 72 hours for the unvaccinated. Since information changes quickly, we advise you to follow up on the latest Uganda travel updates and/or contact your local Uganda Embassy.
Do I need a negative COVID-19 test result to enter Uganda?
COVID test before arrival: PCR within 72 hours for unvaccinated travelers.
COVID test exemptions: Children under 5 and fully vaccinated travelers and fully vaccinated travelers.
Note: Departing travelers also need a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before travel.
Will I have to quarantine upon arrival in Uganda?
Quarantine requirements: There are no quarantine requirements to travel to Uganda.
