Visit Zeffy to register for this year's conference. Registration levels are designed to make attendance accessible for individuals across diverse geographies and professions.
As we near June 26-29, EqualHealth will provide additional updates on the conference program and speakers. For more information, please email info@equalhealth.org.
If you are able, please consider donating a scholarship ticket to support an attendee who otherwise would not be able to attend the 2023 Social Medicine Conference. We aim to make the conference accessible to all, regardless of ability to pay, and your generous support will defray a portion of those expenses. You will receive a charity receipt for this ticket purchase.
Application forms are available in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. If you are a local student currently studying and living in Uganda, please complete this form by March 20, 2023.
Access to the pre-conference sessions and main conference days.
Group transportation will be provided from the airport in Entebbe to the conference location in Mbarara on June 25 and June 27. Ground transportation will also be provided on the return trip, from Mbarara to Entebbe, on June 30 only. On conference days, ground transportation will be provided within Mbarara, to connect attendees from a common meeting point to the conference venue. Upon advance notice and prior arrangement, airport pickup may be provided on an individual basis—please email info@equalhealth.org for more details.
Meals and snacks will be provided during conference hours.
We will encourage active engagement and inclusivity by offering three language translations throughout the conference: French, Portuguese, and Spanish. Abstracts can also be submitted in any of these languages. Historically, language has been used to marginalize and exclude communities from conversations on matters that affect their own health and well-being. EqualHealth centers language justice throughout our programs as a commitment to deconstructing the historical forces that continue to cultivate inequities.
Entebbe International Airport is the only international airport in Uganda.
While your registration does not include accommodations, EqualHealth has secured a discounted conference rate at several hotels in Mbarara. Hotel information will be updated on the conference website. Currently, we estimate hotel rooms per night in Mbarara to range in price from $50-120 USD, and hotel rooms in Entebbe near the airport to range from $80-200 USD per night.
Registrants who are not Ugandan nationals, or nationals from one of the Uganda visa-exempt countries, will need a visa to enter Uganda. Visa information can be found here. The conference invitation letter is one of the documents you will need when submitting your visa application. Invitation letters will be sent to registrants within five days of their registration to facilitate the visa application submission. If you have not received your letter, please email info@equalhealth.org. Learn more about the visa application process here.
