Drama 10, 20 and 30 emphasizes knowledge of self and others through participation in and reflection on a variety of dramatic experiences. Competency in communication skills is explored through various dramatic disciplines, as students gain appreciation for theatre as a process and an art form.
Drama 10 is an introductory course intended for students to acquire a working knowledge and appreciation of drama and theatre. Units of study include Orientation, Movement, Speech, Improvisation, Acting, Technical Theatre and Theatre Studies.
Drama 20 focuses on skill development for quality production in a sustained project context: voice, movement, characterization, ensemble, rehearsal discipline, playwriting and design; including sound, costume and set. Students will have the opportunity to perform in solo, duet and/or small group contexts for our Shep Fest, our One Act Festival.
Drama 30 focuses on directing theory and practice, acting, costume, set and sound design, play analysis, theatre criticism and the preparation of a Director’s Book for Shep Fest, our One Act Festival. All students select and direct a short selected cutting or one act piece for Shep Fest.
