Welcome to McNally Theatre!
McNally's theatre program helps students learn the elements of character development, writing for the theatre, movement, improvisation and how to become a compelling storyteller. Students study lighting, staging, camera angles and more as they prepare in-class and extracurricular theatre productions. There are also many opportunities to be involved beyond the school with our Cappies of Great Edmonton program, Citadel Club, Improv Festivals and City Zone 8 One Act Finals.
The Drama 10/20/30 curriculum looks at drama as both an art form and a medium for learning. It can develop the whole person — emotionally, physically, intellectually, imaginatively, aesthetically and socially — by giving form and meaning to experience through “acting out”. As well, it fosters positive group interactions as students learn to make accommodations in order to pursue shared goals.
At McNally, the drama room is always full of students and buzzing with energy. Students are encouraged to regularly use the space to meet their friends in the morning or at lunch, rehearse a scene, play improv games, belt out show tunes or prep their tech. It is a safe communal space for creativity and building relationships.
We hope to see join McNally Theatre!
