Throughout the grades, McNally's Art and Ceramics programs allows students to learn to create both technical and personally expressive artwork through multiple mediums. Through studying historical and contemporary artists, art movements and techniques, students develop an extensive visual dialogue of art creation. McNally emphasizes the student-artist voice and students across the 10, 20, and 30 level in Visual Art, IB Art, and Ceramics are able to create in-depth, personal portfolios to help them along their journey of becoming both artists and young adults.

An articulated visual arts program involves students as creators, performers, historians, critics, and consumers. The visual arts enable students to enhance the depth and breadth of their expression and intuitive response to fine art. It is a study of culture through images designed to take the student from consideration of his or her own experiences with art, through an historical analysis of art forms, to a more global investigation of art in the emerging culture.

The IB Visual Arts course enables students to engage in both practical exploration and artistic production, and in independent contextual and critical investigation. The course is designed to enable students to study visual arts in higher education and also welcomes students who seek life enrichment through visual arts.
Ceramics (Advanced Techniques) 15-25-35 is designed to familiarize students with a variety of ceramic processes and techniques. In this course sequence, students express thoughts and ideas through visual imagery, understand and apply historical and contemporary design elements and processes, and solve artistic and functional design problems. In particular, students develop critical and creative thinking, discovery through inquiry, reflection, exploration and experimentation through the creation of artworks.
We welcome you to McNally Art and Ceramics and look forward to having you in the classroom!
