RED ROAD JOURNEYS

Indigenous Initiative/Program

kisêwâtisiwin, Edith Rogers, Thelma Chalifoux and TD Baker  Junior High Schools

Providing valuable learning opportunities, cultural connections and support for our Indigenous students & families is fundamental to our schools. We are very proud to offer Indigenous programming as an integral part of our school activities. Welcoming and respecting one another's personal beliefs and teachings is something that we honor and value at our schools.

Indigenous Liaison, Corey Wells

Greetings, and welcome! My name is Corey and I am the Indigenous Liaison at kisêwâtisiwin, Edith Rogers, TD Baker and Thelma Chalifoux Junior High Schools.

I am a proud descendant of the Blackfeet Nation in northern Montana and Metis Nation here in Canada. I enjoy spending time with my children and family and take advantage of every opportunity to travel, especially when it's a trip to the mountains or to Montana. I have also travelled the good 'Red Road' for the last 30 years and appreciate all that this journey has taught me.  Walking the 'Red Road' includes a life of sobriety and living by the teachings of our ancestors.  A life of truth, kindness and balance.

I've been working with Indigenous youth, families & communities for the last 28 years, both on and off reserve. I am committed to utilizing my experience, education and teachings to create opportunities for our students to engage in culturally relevant activities within their school and community.

Schedule & Contact

Corey spends one day a week at each of the schools.

If you or your child needs to reach her in between days at your school, the best way to reach Corey is via email.

From there, she will respond to you directly.

Always feel free to contact Corey, regardless if she is at your school that day or not.

We understand that things come up and they don't always follow a 'schedule'.
