What Is The Care Closet?

The Mill Woods Care Closet is a food and clothing bank that seeks to meet the needs of those in our community. We provide non-perishable food, lightly used clothing, personal care items, and small household items. We are also available to listen and attend to emotional needs in a safe environment. The Mill Woods Care Closet is run and operated by Calvary Community Church.

Oliver Centre Wipac Micihta Program

Located at 15830-100A Ave.

This program is a accredited program that opened its doors on February 28, 2019. It offers child care to children 12 months to 6 years of age. The program has a fulltime Cook who supports the children's nutritional needs each day by offering a breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack. The program supports an environment that delivers culturally based and distinct early learning grounded in Indigenous cultures. Combining a holistic and Reggio inspired approach that supports the wellness of children and families in a safe, nurturing, and well resourced program.

Are you having issues seeking funding for schooling? Below are a list of programs to apply to.


-Dreamcatcher Fund: Deadline December 2021, open to indigenous students without funding from their band and financial need.

-NWAC ISET Funding: Open year round to students with at least one year of study left in their program, for indigenous women.

-Moss Bag Bursary: Deadline November 14th, for indigenous mothers in post secondary, $2,000.

-RBC Indigenous Bursary: Deadline January 2022, grade/financial need based, up to $10,000.

-ATCO Indigenous Education Bursary: Applications open April 2022, $1,000.

-CiCan Paul and Gerri Charette Bursary: Deadline October 1st, 2022. Up to #5,000.

-NiB Trust Fund: Applications open Spring 2022, open to all indigenous students in a post secondary program.

-NWAC Bursaries: Applications open early summer 2022, open to indigenous women in various studies, see NWAC website.

-Anishinabek Excellence Award: Deadline May 2022, open to students within the Anishinabek Nation, $1,500, grades based.

-ONECA: 2 programs, Four Directions Scholarship for graduating students for $1,000, and PS Student Award, deadline July 2022.

-FNIGC National Student Bursary: Essay based, up to $2,500 Deadline January 2021.

-FN Caring Society Bursaries: $2,500, Deadline January 2022

-Sunshine Coast Health Centre: Essay Based Tuition Bursary, Deadline August 1st 2022.
