HS Concert Ensembles

The HS Concert Band is the core of the instrumental program at EPHS.  Here, students learn to perform music in a variety of styles from a variety of time periods and locations.  The HS Concert Band presents three concerts each year in December, March, and May.  The band also performs in competition towards the end of the year.

Lessons

Students are provided with scheduled individual lessons throughout each marking period so that they may grow in the mastery of their instrument. For those students registered in the daily band class, these lessons are part of their grade.  For those not registered in the class due to scheduling conflicts, participation and adherence to these lessons is required in order to perform in the concerts.  Lessons may be recorded so that each student may create a digital portfolio to review and track progress.

Music

The music performed by the HS Concert Band is chosen based on a number of factors.  It is our goal to provide each student with an enriching and challenging musical experience.  Music is selected with difficulty, genre, culture, and standards in mind.  We in the music department find it is important to expose both students and audiences to great works of art from as many time periods and cultures as possible.  The music is our textbook.

Concert Choir

The EPHS Concert Choir is open to all students in grades 9-12.  This choir is continually growing in numbers and skill.  No previous singing experience is necessary, but a commitment to rehearsal is.  The choir sings music from various styles, time periods, cultures, languages, and difficulty levels.  The Concert Choir meets during the school day in a registered and graded class.   These students learn more difficult music in a variety of languages, styles and time periods.

Performances

The HS Band and Concert Choir performs at three concerts during the year in December, March, and MayStudents from these groups also perform at a festival competition at the end of the year.
