Creating

Students will conceive & develop new musical ideas and work.

Generate:

  • 3:I can improvise rhythmic and melodic patterns and musical ideas

Presenting

Students will realize musical ideas and work through interpretation and presentation.

Responding

All General Music classes in grades 1-5 will participate in a formal concert once a year. The fall semester is dedicated to reviewing last years musicianship skills. As well as preparing music for the winter concert with an emphasis on performing with expression, and demonstrating performance and audience etiquette.

Third grade students participate in a Recorder Unit in January. During this time students will be learning how to read music and play the soprano recorder in class. This is a great introduction to playing an instrument and will better prepare the students for beginning band next year.
