Measles Massacres

These days, a virus called Measles continue to soar globally and threaten many people in different nations. A new report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization has shown that more than 140,000 people across the globe died measles last year.

Measles is a highly contagious infectious disease caused by the measles virus. It is air borne and spreads through sneezes and coughs. As an extremely contagious virus, the symptoms appear fairly quickly after a person gets infected. The symptoms usually appear 7-10 days after the person gets infected and usually lasts 10 to 12 days. The early symptoms usually include fever, coughs and inflamed eyes. The person in this phase does not really realize whether he or she is infected with the Measles virus. They start to realize when the rashes appear. A red, flat rash which usually starts on the face and then spreads to the rest of the body typically begins three to five days after the start of symptoms.Common complications include diarrhea pneumonia. These occur in part due to measles-induced immunosuppression. Less commonly seizures blindness, or inflammation of the brain may occur. This inflammation is the main cause of such immense deaths globally.

Fortunately, the efforts to enhance and alleviate the situation, but the authorities and researches in the World Health Organization spectate that there is more to be done to eradicate the greatly infectious disease from Earth.
