MAP Growth reveals how much growth has occurred between tests and, when combined with US norms, shows projected proficiency for upcoming years, and even ACT scores many years into the future. MAP® Growth™ measures what students know and informs what they’re ready to learn next. By dynamically adjusting to each student’s responses, MAP creates a personalized assessment experience that accurately measures performance. These scores help teachers teach, students learn, and administrators lead. We will MAP test three times a year for all students Pre-K through 8th grade. I will track growth through the school year and over multiple years. Using MAP Growth data, I will pinpoint the instructional areas students are ready to tackle—whether they’re on, above, or below grade level.
All past scores are shown. On the report, the YELLOW bar is the average grade level for students in the same grade as our student. The BLUE bar is the student score. Look at the number over it and that is the RIT score. These are circled in red on the sample above. This is what you should find in the table here: Parent's Guide
Look at the "Growth Projection" number. This was the goal for this term. Look at the "RIT Growth." Hopefully, the goal was met. Look on the sample above. These items are circled in yellow highlighting.
Now, look at the center, bold number in the Percentile Range section (far right). This is also highlighted in the sample above. This is the percentage of students nationwide that fall below this score. What does this tell me about a student's future? Looking at the table below, you can see what the future ACT score will be. ACT scores determine college readiness. Are you or your student on track for the future? Predictions From MAP Scores
1. Find the correct season on page 2 of the Parent Guide: Winter, Spring or Summer
2. Find the correct subject: Read or Math
3. Find your child's grade: Kindergarten through 8th
4. Find the BOLD, middle number, on your child's MAP report that shows his or her "Percentile." This links to the % column.
5. Using the RIT score at the top of the blue bar, you can determine if your child is above, at, or below his or her grade level in the RIT column.
6. If NOT on grade level, where are they? Well Below, Below, or Above?
Making sure early readers are on the right track is crucial to their future development. MAP ® Reading FluencyTM is an online, adaptive assessment that efficiently measures oral reading fluency, comprehension, and foundational skills. It uses advanced technology to enable group testing, automatically record and score each student, and deliver instructionally useful data.
Once this test is complete, the teacher will be able to see the exact areas of reading fluency in which the student is at or below grade level. This will provide us a MAP to success in reading! See some examples below:
