College Football Game Recaps-

Wake forest V.S. North Carolina Tar Heels

In this battle between the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the North Carolina Tar Heels, the Tar Heels were constantly fighting for the lead. After each possession, the scoreboard would change. Both teams would consistently drive down the field and score. Every drive mattered in this game; one bad drive would have cost either team. North Carolina started their first drive and the worst happened: a fumble right off the bat. This gave Wake Forest amazing field position, but they could not take advantage of it and had to settle for a field goal. This came back to haunt Wake Forest by the end of the game. In the first quarter, North Carolina had 4 drives, and two of the drives ended in touchdowns. Wake Forest had three drives, with one touchdown and a field goal. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 14-10 with North Carolina in the lead. However, by the end of the second quarter, the score was 31-24 with Wake Forest in the lead. This wasn’t the best sight for a North Carolina fan, because Wake Forest would receive the ball at the start of the third quarter. Thankfully, the Tar Heels got a stop and forced Wake Forest to go three and out. By the end of the third quarter, the score was 48-34, with Wake Forest still in the lead. As the fourth quarter began, North Carolina was down by 14 points. However, on the very first drive, the Tar Heels scored! The Tar Heels sent out their defense with the intention to get a stop, but instead, got an interception, which sparked a flame in the stadium. The Tar Heels offense knew what had to be done and it happened. BOOM- score! Five minutes ago, North Carolina might have been thinking the game was over, but now it's a tied game with ten minutes left to play. The Tar Heels defense got another stop due to a turnover on downs. North Carolina got a field goal and took the lead with just over two minutes left to play. This was very dangerous because one Wake Forest touchdown and that's the end of the game. But this did not happen. It was 4th and 10 and Sam Hartman dropped back and went to pass, but it ended up being incomplete. It was a turnover on downs and North Carolina ended up scoring again, but this time in 10 seconds they gave the ball back to Wake forest with one minute to play, and they scored once more. But in the end, it didn't matter. The game was over. Wake Forest's quarterback, Sam Hartman, completed 25/51 passes for 398 yards. He threw five touchdowns and two interceptions. Running Back 1, Justice Ellison, rushed for 81 yards off of 13 attempts. Wide Receiver, A.T Perry, had six receptions for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Wide Receiver, Jaquarii Roberson, had seven receptions for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Finally, Wake Forest third Wide Receiver, Taylor Morin, had two receptions for 66 yards and one touchdown. On the other side of the ball, North Carolina’s Quarterback, Sam Howell, completed 16/26 passes, throwing for 216 yards, and threw one touchdown. Howell also rushed for two touchdowns and attempted 21 rushes for a total of 104 yards. Running Back, Ty Chandler, rushed for 213 yards off of 22 attempts and had four touchdowns. Wide receiver, Antoine Green, had six receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown. North Carolina had a huge upset this week and most likely crushed Wake Forest playoff chances. But thankfully, Wake Forest looks like a team that can bounce back into the playoff conversation in upcoming years. If North Carolina can keep this up, they will be a lethal team for anyone to play.
